On our national news at 6pm, there was finally a mention of the ongoing issue with Vodafone.

The actually footage can be found here: http://tvnz.co.nz/technology-news/gamers-fire-shot-vodafone-3694584/video
Of course the news didnt quite get it - but overall it was a fair reflection of the story so far.
The outcome was a far greater presence on the Vodafone forums yesterday from the VF start including the Head of Corporate Communications, Paul Brislen.
The outcome - well nothing in fact. In fact Paul probably did himself a disservice by saying the following in TV:

"It's something you have to keep doing and we are looking at making some major changes in the months ahead to try and put this to bed once and for all."Everyone immediately picked up on the phrase "Months ahead" and started giving up entirely on any kind of satisfactory resolution in the immediate future.
Shortly after the item was aired Paul came to the forum and posted:
Apologies for the delay - we tried something overnight but it seems to have changed the people who have latency issues for other users but not solved it... tried something else during the day... Tomorrow I'll post about what's going on and what the fix looks like.Again this opened a can of worms, because on Tuesday morning he said:
Thanks for your patience... I'll have a statement about the latency issue later on today.
It's been something of a problem tracking down just where the issue lies but hopefully we've got a solution. Just getting it signed off and I'll post it later on.
And on Tuesday evening he said:
Just a quick update - I'm talking to TV about latency shortly so the proper update will have to go out tomorrow... sorry guys, there are only so many things I can do at once.So hearing on Wednesday that we would hear something on Thursday was like a red rag to the proverbial Tauren :)
However Paul did post today:
As you know, some Vodafone wholesale fixed-line customers have been experiencing unusual latency issues over the past few weeks.Which wasnt quite what the customers where expecting.
The good news is that we are about to begin migrating our wholesale customer base to a new platform and we hope this will mean your latency issues will improve significantly. This migration will take place over the next few months but we have already begun contacting potential triallists for the new service.
If you’ve logged a complaint about latency we’ll be in touch to talk about whether you’d like to take part in the trial. We have limited places for now so we can’t offer it to everyone I’m sorry, but we are keen to hear how the trial goes, pending a full roll-out.
In the mean time you should all notice some of the short-term fixes we’re putting in place. We’ve been working on a number of things that should give you a significant improvement and we’ll communicate those with you in the coming days.
We’d like to thank you all for your patience and for helping us gather information on the problem. It makes the tech team’s work that much easier when they have such great data to work with so thank you for your input.

Bet Vodafone's ISP competitors in NZ are thrilled...
Hey at least it wasn't a 30 second spot that video actually looked like they put a bit of time and effort into it.
If you can't depend on your ISP I'd ditch them.
Months? Why don't they just reverse whatever they did to break it in the first place? Every IT professional knows that if you're making a change to a live environment, you must always have a rollback plan.
You seem to be assuming a fair bit when you use the word "professional", Klem...
